Darryn Marks is an APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience in public and private settings, sports and complex musculoskeletal pain. Darryn presently leads the multidisciplinary Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Screening Service at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he works closely with orthopaedic surgeons and spinal neurosurgeons. Darryn teaches at Griffith University, both as a Guest Lecturer on the post-graduate Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy Masters program, and as a Clinical Skills Facilitator in the School of Medicine. He has spoken at various international conferences and is undertaking research towards his PhD into physiotherapy roles, prescribing and corticosteroid injection for shoulders.

Darryn represented Australia in junior tennis and went on to a scholarship at Oklahoma State University USA in 1990. His early physiotherapy career in Melbourne combined tennis coaching with physiotherapy and a tennis injury prevention and management consulting role with the Australian Institute of Sport. Darryn gained broad sports experience including 2 years as Team Physiotherapist with Melbourne Phoenix in the national netball league, was involved with the Melbourne Tigers Basketball team in the NBL and club level AFL teams.

After gaining a Masters in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2000 (awarded Dux), Darryn spent a decade in the UK, working at the international forefront of advanced physiotherapy, undertaking extensive additional training in areas of prescribing, injection, image and blood test interpretation. He was one of few to obtain an NHS Consultant Physiotherapist title, leading a team of doctors and physiotherapists managing complex conditions referred to orthopaedic, rheumatology and pain services.

Darryn sees sports, non-sporting and work-related problems. He has particular interests in complex musculoskeletal pain, persistent spinal problems, headaches and shoulder pain.
